If you find the dial on your EKG is sticky or not rotating as smoothly as it once was, there's a good chance ground coffee or other substance are stuck beneath it. Fortunately, you can remove the knob and hopefully clean out whatever is obstructing the path of the dial.
1. With a flat object (butter knife, flathead screwdriver, etc.), slowly pry between the dial and the base. Once the flat object is in place, gently turn it until you feel the dial give.
2. Remove the dial to reveal the internal spring (note how the spring is positioned).
3. Remove spring and clean around the dial and base with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
4. Place the spring back in place and line up the bottom of the dial to re-attach it to the base.
